Even though The Dock opened
it’s doors with a bang last spring,
packing-out every weekend for
seafood farers and water-partiers,
the secret is that they keep on
serving that great local fare and
live music fun, all year round!!
Cheli and I were very impressed
with this humongous conglomeration
located on Seaway
Road in Gulfport. Hearing about
the great deck parties, we had
never had the opportunity to indulge
in the fun until now. We
set-out for our adventure on a
gloomy winter day, and still thoroughly
enjoyed ourselves a the
waterside deck known as The
Dock.
For all of you who travel to Ft.
Walton and Destin, Fl, The Dock
is a total mixture of The Swamp
and AJ’s. (My two very favorite
party venues!!) The open-deck or
enclosed water view areas both
offer some delicious cocktails and
superb local fare!!
As the night manager, Stephen,
gave us a tour and explained
All aspects, Cheli and
I were really working
up an appetite
As well as a
Desire to getour-party-on!!
Envisioning all the fun coming up
soon, the deck converts to a simple
seafood menu including crawfish
boils and pig roasts for the
throngs of boaters throwin’-down
on the deck. There is also a 14net
sand volleyball court which is
about to be an alternative concert
arena as well, featuring The
Blues Travelers coming up on
March 21 and Galactic in April as
well as Marshall Tucker Band
and Georgia Satellite to appear in
the near future. There is a nonsmoking
dining area, a party
room for rent, and an open air
dining area with winter protective
plastic & heat as well as Big A**
Fans and a misting system for
summer fun!!
We began with two of the specialty
drinks, The Dock Splash
and The Dock Sunset. These
tropical concoctions are very delicious
as well as strong, they will
sneak-up-on-you and bite-you-inthe-a**!!
Not for us to worry, we
ate enough to feed an army
Beginning with
Fried crab-
Claws,
Smoked
Tuna dip,
spinach-artichoke-crab dip, seared
Ahir-tuna with wasabi Mayo over
seaweed salad, and the Grill~4
each of Oysters rockefeller, oysters
with butter and parmesan, and
The Dock Oysters - topped with
jalapeno and cheddar cheese!! At
this point we got to enjoy our
amusing waiters service and some
antidotes by Chef Rob, who has
worked at several casinos and
brings his true talents-out in his
freedom to choose the specials that
go along with the mainstream
seafood fare. All employees were
really jazzed about their jobs and
that always leads to a better experience
for patroons. General
Manager, Kendall Dedeaux, was
just as down to earth and pleasant
as can be and everyone seemed so
excited to be taking care of us,
which they did superbly!!
After all these fabulous apps,
Chef Rob set-us-up with his specials,
Bay Fish-red fish (my veryfavorite!!)
grilled, served over
rice pilaf and topped with crawfish
etoufee. This dish was unbelievably
incredible!! Then we
had to have the Shrimp Stuffed
Flounder over pasta and cream!
Cheli was really digging these
two species of fish that she had
never dined-on before!! Then
Rob decided we had to try his barbe-que
shrimp served over homemade
mashed potatoes, Cheli was
like “Where’s the BBQ sauce?”,
which tickled us deep-southsouthern-bred
folks. Barbe-que
Shrimp is a New
Orleans tradition gen-
erally cooked
down in butter
garlic, and beer.
Chef Rob adds
a few of his
own secrets,
including worchestershire
sauce to
make his own BBQ shrimp,
and, YUMMY!!
Other specialties include ribeye
or red fish, grilled on a plank
which we will be checking out
next trip!! Other menu choices
include all your favorites: fried
shrimp, fried oysters, fried fish
(also in poboys), gumbo, crab
bisque, and several salads topped
with your choice of chicken or
seafood. Burgers, sandwiches,
pastas, chicken and steak are on
there as well. You name it,
it’s on there!!
Southern Pecan Pie,
Key Lime Pie, Turtle
Cheesecake, Chocolate Layer Cake,
and of course, The Dock Specialty
Drink menu for your dessert choices!
I’m sure we will see all our friends
having a good ole’ time this spring
and summer, but no need to wait, go
get-u-some now @ The Dock!!
~ Bon Appetit ~
