Biloxi & Gulfport, MS--Smokin’ The Sound, a true world-class
spectacle is here again! Come see the biggest, loudest and fastest race
boats converge on the Mississippi Sound and this year, Gulfport Lake!
This exciting extended-weekend event boasts spectacular parties, great
local entertainment, not to mention the best in offshore racing
with over 30 boats in 13 categories. Smokin’ The Lake will
feature over 60 boats racing in 7 categories.
Smokin’ The Sound is the 1st race of the year for the Offshore
Super Series Powerboat Racing Association. Speed, colorful
race boats, passing, come-from-behind victories and an air
show of helicopters that hover as close as 25 feet from the boats
will be the norm. So hold on to your seat and watch all the excitement
up-close as Smokin' The Sound roars into the Mississippi Sound.
OSS CAT boats will clock in at 150 mph down the straight-a-way.
The other boat categories will run at over 100 mph down the straight-a-way.
This year Smokin’ The Sound will feature Pro-Am racing on Saturday. Come
see local boaters test their metal on the race course. For local boaters wanting to

No binoculars needed! You can see all of the excitement up-close by
going to any of the premium or VIP viewing areas. Premium viewing areas
have an awesome panoramic view of the 8-mile race course and Gulfport
Lake along with restrooms, official merchandise vendors, varying entertainment
offerings and food and beverage offerings.

★Pro Stock - Race Hulls utilizing Mercury 2.5 Laser/XRI EFI 200 motors.
★Super Stock - Race Hulls utilizing carbureted motors only.
★Lake Racer - Lake Boats and Bass Boats with modified & hi-performance motors.
★1400 Modified Production - Race hulls with modified motors utilizing OEM parts.
★Pro Gas - Race hulls using modified motors with aftermarket parts.
★Outlaws - Any hull 16 foot minimum boat length. 1/8 mile course (660 feet).
